What do I need to do to become a rabbi?
A.
MJTI does not currently ordain rabbis but we offer courses necessary for ordination by the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations (UMJC).
These consist of online Jewish Studies courses, special rabbinical training courses offered at UMJC conferences in various locations in the United States, and rabbinical intensive seminars in Los Angeles and Jerusalem.
For those interested in rabbinical training, we offer a special Portfolio Course taught by Rabbi Rich Nichol. This course, which is given over three academic quarters, will help you evaluate your preparedness for rabbinical training and also offer a wealth of information about the life of a rabbi.
This course is free for anyone who is enrolled in at least one online School of Jewish Studies course for each of those three quarters.
If you are interested in becoming a rabbi, you should email Rabbi Rich at rnichol@mjti.com in order to set up a phone interview before you apply to
MJTI's online School of Jewish Studies.
For more information about the School of Jewish Studies program, please email our registrar, Deborah Farrar at
